Soda plays a big role in the American diet. Almost everyone at one
point in their life has had a big gulp of the good stuff and who can blame

However, there is always a lot of speculation behind the idea the overload of
sugary drinks. We agree that certain beverages should be consumed in moderation
to avoid the risk of obesity. Along with this there is a lot of talk lately
about the effects of diet soda consumers and how they are capable of losing
more weight than others. Let’s take a closer look.
There is a breaking point between doing what is right and wrong
for your body and we all recognize that a balanced diet and exercise prove to
be the best solution to sustain a wholesome body. With that being said,
sweetened drinks and treats can never be removed from our diet because it will
only force us to replace these items with more calories or other unnecessary
fillers.
Though it is unconventional to include soda in a diet these days,
researchers found that people are likely to lose more weight when diet
beverages are present. As per the study published in Obesity, the official
journal of The Obesity Society, dieters who consumed diet drinks or diet soda
was found to lose on average 13 pounds compared to those who drank mostly water
during a 12-week long weight loss program. Both groups of participants received
intensive coaching and weight loss techniques, including regular feedback on
the meals they consumed. Still the 4-pound difference was the most notable statistic
for the weight loss challenge funded by the American Beverage Association.
Hence, while the non-diet drinkers most likely need to drink and
eat more calories for constant nourishment, it creates simplicity for dieters
to cut the weight over 12 weeks by not depriving their bodies of simple
pleasures. Artificially-sweetened drinks are not weight loss enhancers, but
they will help fill those small urges and possibly detain dieters from
overindulging on calories throughout the day.
